While hunger may not be an immediate issue in your life, or the lives of your family or your friends, its existence in the world does in fact have very real ramifications for each of us.

Solving chronic hunger creates peace and stability in the world. Long term desperation and scarcity can drive people to extremes and result in political instability, violence, terrorism and war.

Reducing hunger actually reduces population. When people know that their children will survive, they choose to have fewer children.

| Acceptance of world hunger is counter to American values. The United States was founded on the principles of equality and liberty. For many Americans concern for the poor is a matter of responsibility and strong religious tenet. |
| Finally, we should care about ending world hunger because the solutions are known and available. We have the knowledge, the science and the technology to do it. Hunger could end in our life time. How can we not act to alleviate this unnecessary human suffering?! |
